A safari in Maasai Mara is probably the greatest wildlife adventure experience on earth, and this is certainly no overstatement. The reserve hosts several animals, some of the most diverse collections, including the ‘Big Five’ and the ‘Big Nine’, most of which can be spotted while on safari in Maasai Mara. Though the wildebeest migration season, which runs from July to September, is the year’s highlight, a Masai Mara safari is rewarding all year round. Fly ~ In Safari Tours
Fly~in or “Flying Safaris” save the hassle of getting to Masai Mara in an hour from Nairobi and are the norm for certain Safari Camps in Maasai Mara which are more remote or those offering only packaged stays with safari drives. Flights depart Wilson airport in Nairobi twice a day and on arrival at the airstrip in the Mara, guests are met and transferred to their respective Camp in 4 x 4 Safari Tour Vehicles that are provided by the property.
Road Safari Tours
The most common way of getting to Masai Mara is by road, in a 4×4 Landcruiser, or the less expensive Safari Minibus (Tour Van). Depending on which camp or lodge has been featured in your itinerary, most drive to Masai Mara from Nairobi takes approximately 5 to 6 hours. The benefit of a road safari is the generally lower tour cost as well as having the privilege to experience more of the real Kenyan countryside. The downside is that stretches of road en- route to Mara are of below average condition.

A great itinerary professionally executed
It was fantastic, from the time we booked to each part of the holiday, we are very lucky to spot all of the Big Five. The transport between each location was handled by Paul who were friendly and lovely to spend time with. The locations were fabulous, the highlight being Masai Mara Game Reserve!

All our pre booked excursions were top class. The highlight being our pre-dawn hot air balloon safari. Can be cold due to morning chill but worth it. Hotel adequate and food was great. Stayed in luxury tented camp, exactly what we wanted, a deep connection with nature. The visit to Maasai Village was fantastic for the kids. Overall expensive but a great experience.
