Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Fly to Masai Mara Reserve
Your safari begins with a convenient transfer from your Nairobi hotel or directly from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Wilson Airport, the gateway to Kenya’s domestic flights. After a short reporting time of about an hour, you’ll board your scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. The flying time is approximately one hour, saving you the long drive across Kenya’s countryside and giving you more time to enjoy the wild.
From the skies, marvel at sweeping aerial views of the Rift Valley and scattered hills as you descend into the iconic Mara. On arrival at the airstrip, a warm welcome awaits from your lodge’s driver-guide who will transfer you to Sarova Mara Camp. Depending on the time of arrival, you may settle in for lunch before some leisure time at the camp.
Later in the afternoon, usually around 3:30 pm, embark on your very first game drive in the Mara. The excitement begins as you explore the rich wilderness teeming with wildlife – from elephants and giraffes to prides of lions lounging in the grasslands. As the sun begins to set, the landscape is painted in golden hues, providing perfect photo opportunities. Return to camp by early evening (around 6:30 pm) for dinner and your first night in the Mara.

Day 2: Full Day Safari in Masai Mara
Rise early today for a morning game drive beginning around 6:15 am. Early mornings are magical in the Mara as the plains come alive with wildlife activity. Predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards are often more active before the heat of the day sets in, making this one of the best times to spot them. Return to camp for a hearty breakfast and a chance to relax or swim before lunch.
In the afternoon, head out once more for another game drive from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. This rhythm of early morning and late afternoon safaris maximizes your chances of seeing a wide variety of animals in action. Expect to encounter massive herds of wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes grazing, while elephants wander gracefully in family groups. As always, your experienced driver-guide will enrich the experience with insights into animal behavior and the ecosystem.
Return in the evening for a delicious dinner and overnight stay at your luxury camp.

After the drive, return for breakfast and enjoy a leisurely morning. The camp offers a range of optional activities such as nature walks, or you could immerse yourself in culture with a visit to a Maasai Village, where you’ll learn about the traditions, lifestyle, and dances of the Maasai people. Please note that these optional activities are at an additional cost and can be arranged upon request.
After lunch, set off once again for your afternoon game drive, exploring more of the reserve and its varied landscapes. As the day winds down, return to the lodge for a relaxed evening, often enhanced by campfire entertainment or traditional dances before a well-deserved dinner.
