2 Days Flying Masai Mara Safari
2 Days from $ 980 / person sharing
In just two days, our 2 Days Flying Masai Mara Safari gives you a front-row seat to the wonders of Africa’s most famous reserve. Whether it’s your first safari or a return trip, the Mara never fails to impress with its raw beauty and incredible wildlife. This short but unforgettable journey ensures you don’t miss out on the magic of the Masai Mara, even if your schedule is tight.
Why Choose a Flying Safari to the Masai Mara?
A road trip to the Masai Mara from Nairobi takes around 5–6 hours, but with a flying safari, you arrive in just one hour. This not only saves valuable time but also gives you the chance to appreciate Kenya’s landscapes from a bird’s-eye view. Flying over the patchwork of farmlands, dramatic escarpments, and the sweeping Rift Valley makes the journey itself a remarkable experience.
Upon landing at the Mara’s airstrip, you are immediately immersed in nature. Within minutes, you’re likely to spot giraffes grazing near the runway or zebras curiously watching as your plane lands. A seamless transfer by your lodge’s safari vehicle ensures you begin your adventure almost instantly, maximizing your time in the reserve.

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara – The Adventure Begins
Your journey begins in Nairobi, where our professional driver-guide will meet you at your hotel or directly at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After a warm welcome, you will be transferred to Wilson Airport, Nairobi’s domestic hub for safari flights.
Check-in procedures are smooth, and with only a 15-kilogram baggage allowance per passenger, the planes are light, ensuring a comfortable flight. The one-hour journey is nothing short of spectacular: as you ascend, you’ll see Nairobi fade into the distance, followed by dramatic escarpments, lush forests, and the iconic Rift Valley floor stretching endlessly below.
On arrival at the Mara airstrip, your lodge’s driver-guide will greet you with a friendly smile and help you into a 4×4 safari vehicle. Even this short drive to your camp feels like a game drive, as animals often roam close to the airstrips.
Lunch and Leisure at the Camp
Depending on your flight time, you’ll arrive at your lodge or camp in time for a delicious lunch. In this safari, accommodation is arranged at Sarova Mara Camp, one of the Masai Mara’s renowned properties. Nestled in the heart of the reserve, the camp combines luxury and comfort with an authentic bush atmosphere. You can relax after your meal, perhaps lounging by the pool, enjoying a drink, or simply taking in the sounds of the wilderness.
Afternoon Game Drive
At around 3:30 pm, the real excitement begins: your first game drive in the Masai Mara. Accompanied by experienced guides, you’ll set out across the savannah in search of wildlife. The afternoon is one of the best times to see animals as temperatures cool and predators become active.
Expect close encounters with elephants, lions basking in the golden light, or perhaps a cheetah stalking prey across the plains. The sheer density of animals in the Mara is astounding, and no two game drives are ever the same. Your guide will share fascinating insights into animal behavior, the ecosystem, and the rich culture of the Maasai people who inhabit this land.
By evening, you return to your camp just in time for dinner. After a day filled with adventure, relax under the starry African sky, enjoying the campfire atmosphere before retiring to your tent for a restful night in the heart of the wilderness.
