Trip Overview:
Kenya remains the world’s ultimate wildlife photography destination. From towering giraffes browsing acacias against golden sunrises to big cats stalking prey across vast grasslands, the landscapes of Kenya offer boundless visual storytelling opportunities.
However, for photographers, timing and location are everything. Nothing matches the raw drama of the Great Wildebeest Migration, when over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebras traverse the plains with predators in relentless pursuit.
At Kenya Wild Parks, we have crafted this immersive, photography-first itinerary to steer clear of crowds, maximize field time, and place you in prime position for epic river crossings and iconic wildlife action.
Itinerary:
-
Welcome to Kenya! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), a representative from Kenya Wild Parks will greet you and arrange a transfer to your hotel in Nairobi.
Use this evening to relax, recover from your flight, and attend a welcome briefing with your Lead Photo Guide to go over trip logistics, equipment setup, and expectations for the days ahead.
Meals Included: Welcome DinnerAccommodations: Tamarind Tree Hotel
Getting There & Getting Home
-
Starting & Ending Location: All departures for this photography expedition begin and end in Nairobi, Kenya (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport – NBO).
-
Pre-Trip Arrival Recommendation: Because international travel to East Africa involves long-haul flights and crossing time zones, we strongly recommend arriving in Nairobi at least one night prior to Day 1. Arriving early gives you essential time to rest, adjust to the local timezone, and ensure your camera equipment and luggage arrive smoothly before we head into the field. Recommended Nairobi hotels and transfer options will be provided in your pre-departure information package.
-
Day 1 Arrival Cut-off: Guests must arrive at our host hotel in Nairobi by 5:00 PM on Day 1 in order to attend the mandatory 7:00 PM Welcome Dinner & Photography Orientation Briefing.
-
Departure Flights: On Day 10, domestic flights return to Nairobi in the afternoon. We recommend scheduling onward international departure flights after 8:00 PM on Day 10.
Important Information About This Trip
-
Medical Evacuation Insurance (Mandatory): Because the areas we travel to on this trip are remote and wild—which is precisely why we go there!—we strictly require medical evacuation insurance for our guests’ safety. If you decline the medical evacuation insurance coverage offered through our booking channels, we request that you send us documentation of independent coverage. We will add the cost of a medical evacuation policy to your tour invoice until you provide our office with proof of active coverage, including your insurance company’s name, contact number, and individual policy number. Thank you for understanding that this policy exists exclusively in the interest of our guests’ safety.
