Itinerary Details:

Day 1: Nairobi

On arrival into Nairobi airport you will be met and briefed on your safari before being transferred to our hotel in the Karen suburbs.

Hotel Options in Nairobi:

Day 2: Fly to Borana Conservancy

Transfer to Wilson Airport in Nairobi for a 45-minute flight to Borana Conservancy, passing by the spectacular Mount Kenya’s snow-capped summits. After arriving at Borana Conservancy, your hotel guide will greet you and take you on a short game drive to Borana Lodge, your home for the next three nights. In the heat of the day, familiarize yourself with your surroundings by taking a dip in the pool. After exploring the house and grounds a fresh, organic lunch will be waiting by the pool.

Later in the afternoon when the heat as cool off, your guide will take you on a game drive across Borana Conservancy in search of The Big Five. Borana, together with Lewa Wildlife Conservancy to the east, is home to a robust population of both black and white rhino, accounting for 14 percent of Kenya’s total rhino population.

As the sun sets, you’ll stop for a sundowner, a safari custom in which Gin and Tonics are drank on top of a hill with nothing but pure African wilds for miles.

Day 3: Borana Conservancy

The opportunities at Borana Lodge are endless.
Spend the morning on horseback exploring the valleys and undulating hills of Borana Conservancy, head out for a guided bush walk to appreciate the smaller creatures and flora, opt for a game drive in search of big cats or simply relax by the pool and make the most of the in-house masseuse. The day is yours to be as active as you please.

Day 4: Borana Conservancy

Spend the morning with parts of Borana Conservancy’s anti-poaching team tracking black rhino on foot. This is vital to Borana’s conservation efforts as all rhinos are to be accounted for on a daily basis. By tracking and identifying individual rhino with the conservancy’s scouts you are having a direct impact on conservation. This is an early morning activity, returning to Borana Lodge for breakfast.

Accommodation:

Day 5-6: Fly to Westgate Conservancy

A flight takes you from Laikipia to the Samburu Airstrip and a luxurious lodge that looks out over rolling plains towards Mount Kenya. A drier, harsher landscape than Laikipia, Samburu is nevertheless excellent for wildlife and offers a unique mix of classic savannah animals and those of the northern deserts such as unique long-necked gerenuk antelopes. You enjoy game drives before spending time with local conservationists and learning how to track creatures like lions and elephants. A family highlight is the camel safari that takes you for sundowner drinks – and quad biking is available as an optional extra. Your accommodation is the wonderful Sasaab Camp, an especially well-appointed camp with private plunge pools in each suite and comforts such as Wi-Fi, a health and beauty spa, gym, a babysitting service and free laundry. There’s also the chance to spend a night in the wilderness: ask us about the Sasaab fly-camping experience and sleeping out under the stars.

Accommodation:

Day 7: Fly to Masai Mara

Transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Masai Mara. Upon arriving in Masai Mara, you will be met and transferred to your Camp in the Camp’s shared vehicle. The rest of the program will follow the Camp’s timetable.

Day 8: Masai Mara

Today you will spend the entire day on safari in the Masai Mara, which has some of the best game viewing in Africa. If you want a longer day of game viewing, you can enjoy private morning and afternoon game drives from your camp, as well as breakfast or lunch in the bush.

Hotel Options at Masai Mara:

Days 9: Departure

After enjoying your morning breakfast, fly back to Nairobi on your scheduled flight. Sample one of Nairobi’s excellent restaurants before transferring to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international flight home
