Crescent Island, a game sanctuary situated on Kenya’s Lake Naivasha’s eastern shore, was built in 1988 after the lake’s water level dropped dramatically, allowing it to become part of the mainland. The terrain on the island is flat, making hiking a breeze. A private yacht club is also located on the island’s eastern side. Giraffes, elands, wildebeest, zebras, impalas, and other animals can be seen on Crescent Island. Some of the birds that can be seen on Crescent Island include: fish eagles, herons, ospreys, black crakes, and lily-trotters. Herbivores and mammals can be found in abundance in the lake’s surrounding areas.
