Ndere Island National Park
A Beautiful and Serene Island
Ndere Island National Park is located in the tranquil Lake Victoria waters and is a haven for beauty and various fauna. This hauntingly beautiful island opens up breathtaking views of rolling Homa Bay Hills to the south, the scenic Mageta Island to the east, and on clear days, the far-off skyline of Kampala in Uganda to the southwest. That makes this place surrounded by scenic surroundings, perfect for nature lovers, and for people seeking peace and tranquility.
It is home to all kinds of wildlife-be it hippos lazily having the time of their lives basking in the water along its lakeside or monitor lizards basking in the warmth of the sun, or for that matter, even a stealthily gliding crocodile at times. Herds of impalas, zebras, warthogs, shy sitatunga antelopes, and kingly waterbucks turn any game drive into reality and a dream comes true for all wildlife lovers. Other popularly spotted animals include baboons and other small mammals, constituting a teeming, vibrant ecosystem.
This is the haven a birdwatcher could hardly ever wish for, with over 100 species of birds inhabiting the park. The African fish eagle soars majestically in the waters, a shrill call accompanying its prowess at fishing. Colorful black-headed gonoleks and grey-headed kingfishers flit swiftly across the shores, leaving variegated touches upon this landscape.
The place is so very memorable right from trail trekking to taking boat rides to simply relaxing in the serenity of the atmosphere. It is a spot that perfectly amalgamates beautiful landscapes, rich biodiversity, and a peaceful atmosphere.
