The unspoiled Lakes Alice and Rutundu, with a multitude of trout species, provide the calmest and tranquil fly-fishing experience beneath the towering slopes of Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest peak. The average weight of the catch is 2-3 pounds, with larger fish weighing up to 6 pounds. On Lake Rutundu, a rowing boat is available, as well as three casting platforms. The Kizito/Kathita river gorge, located next to Lake Rutundu, provides little fish for your capture. The best part is that the Rutundu team includes all professional fishing guides, so you don’t need any prior fishing experience.
The Rutundu log cabins, on the other hand, are the ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle of contemporary life, relax, and begin your fishing adventure. You’ll be rewarded with a stunning view of the local peaks and the huge expanse below if you put in the effort.
You’re probably thinking by now; I’m going to need a longer vacation from this experience! And you’re right: Kenya is a vast country full of hidden gems and breathtaking natural beauty. If you want to get the most out of your Kenyan adventure, you’ll need to incorporate other attractions as well.
