Olepangi – Life on a Small Kenyan Farm

1. Join the Team to Milk the Cows Either in the Morning or Evening
Join the team to milk the cows at the stables in the morning or evening, where you will get to experience something unique with the traditional practice of cow-milking. Olepangi farm has its own small herd of pedigree Jersey cows, that are well known for the high quality of their cream and butter. The milk you collect will most likely be used to make ice cream, butter, and homemade yogurt at the farm just for you..
2. Picking Organic Vegetables
Join the happy garden crew as they start the day by picking fresh organic produce from the garden, which will appear on your plate at lunch and supper. Along the process, the garden staff will demonstrate how they make their own compost using manure from the stables and food waste from the kitchen. Olepangi also produce its own organic insecticides from natural farm flora and animal dung, which is usually sprayed twice a week to keep most pests at bay. For the rooms and common areas, the farm also cultivates its own flowers.
3. In the Kitchen, Join the Chef in Making Bread.
Join Olepangi’s Head Chef at the heart of the farm… the kitchen… and his staff to learn how to bake oat bread with the local cooks, in keeping with their organic and healthy outlook. As soon as the fresh bread comes out of the oven, be the first to try it.
4. Horseback Riding.
Horseback riding is popular in Laikipia County, with Olepangi being one of the best accommodations for such activity. The farm has 16 incredibly stunning horses that can be taken for a short ride around the property, a longer walk in the surrounding area, or a small safari in the local conservancy.
