Shompole Wilderness is a small, family-run and managed tented camp nestled under giant fig trees on the banks of the Ewaso Ngiro river that combines wildlife sightings in the Great Rift Valley with the stunning pink, red, green, and yellow colors of Lake Magadi and Lake Natron, both Lesser and Greater flamingoes, and a welcoming Maasai community.
Accommodation:
Shompole Wilderness has four luxury tents nestled in the shade of the Ewaso Nyiro River’s giant fig trees. All of the rooms are very private and have plenty of space between them. All of the tents have bucket showers and flushing toilets. Solar lighting is used throughout the tents, and there are no electrical outlets. The rooms have fans that run for the majority of the afternoon and then turn off until it gets a little cooler around midnight. The tents are situated on the river’s bend, each with a stunning view upriver. There is a lot of wildlife that comes down to drink from the river’s edge if you look across the river.
