Desert Rose Lodge, located on the remote southern slopes of South Horr below Lake Turkana in northern Kenya, is a one-of-a-kind eco-friendly lodge that is all about space, views, scenery, and people. On wonderful ‘flying safaris,’ it is possible to explore all of the craters, volcanoes, and the incredible Lake Turkana by plane, returning to the cool green mountain in the afternoon.
Accommodation:
Desert Rose Lodge has five individually designed and furnished houses that are carved out of locally obtained rocks and timber and have flush toilets and open-air en-suite bathrooms with incredible views of the surrounding countryside. The main dining room and library were handcrafted from locally quarried slate and finely finished in cedar and olive woods. Both overlook and subtly convey their surroundings’ peace and stillness.
