Porini Rhino Camp
An ideal base for viewing the rhinos after which the camp is named
Porini Rhino Camp is situated on the peaceful western side of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, making it an ideal base for viewing the rhinos after which the camp is named. It is a simple and traditional tented camp with no other camps nearby, with the goal of having a low environmental impact through the involvement of locals and members of the Selenkay Maasai community from southern Kenya.
Accommodation:
Porini Rhino Camp’s eight tented rooms are nicely spaced apart and look out onto the plains and a small watering hole. Each is made entirely of canvas, has a vinyl floor spread with rugs, and a front veranda with a table and chairs. Inside, rugs cover the floor, and the furniture – which includes a double and a single bed, a small writing desk, and a luggage stand – is simple and unfussy, lending a slightly homely feel but offering more functionality than style. It is worth noting that each tent is identically configured, so for guests sharing a ‘twin,’ one person will have a double bed and the other will have a single.
