Mount Longonot National Park

Scenic Landscape

Situated around 90 km northwest of Nairobi, Mount Longonot National Park is a beautiful park named after the magnificent stratovolcano known as Mount Longonot. The powerful volcano flexed its fiery muscles back in the 1860s to give the rugged and fascinating landscape that charms visitors today. The park attracts hiking enthusiasts with its leading trail across Mount Longonot to the crater rim.

This is indeed one of the most challenging trails; however, the thrilling views of the Great Rift Valley and surrounding scenery make it a very memorable and rewarding journey for every season and casual climber. Relaxed walking on the edge of the crater at the top allows adventurers to keep themselves amazed by the panoramic view in front of their eyes.

Mount Longonot National Park also serves as a playground not only for hikers but also for various wild animals.
Buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, and bushbucks roam freely in their natural habitat. For the birding enthusiast, this is an opportunity to spot various species of avifauna: colorful francolins, guinea fowls, and eagles hovering above. The tranquil atmosphere of the park makes for a perfect haven to revel in the beauty of nature.
