Buffalo Springs National Reserve
Home to a comparable variety of animals as Samburu
Situated on the south bank of the Ewaso Nyiro River, Buffalo Springs National Reserve provides a game experience that is as good as its neighbor, the Samburu National Reserve. It is home to a variety of animals, including crocodiles, wild dogs, cheetahs, lions, and leopards, thus promising an excellent game-viewing experience for its tourists. This reserve uniquely holds three springs, each named and with a story.
Two of these are walled springs, and the other one was previously a natural visitor swimming hole until access was blocked. The other walled spring now supplies water to Archer’s Post, a local neighboring town. The third is an open spring that spills out unregulated onto the plain; there, it forms a small marshy waterhole that later connects with the Ewaso Nyiro River. This source of water draws in several different animals, creating a hot spot for watching the dynamic interactions of wildlife in their natural setting.
Apart from the haven for predators and other exciting species, Buffalo Springs epitomizes rugged beauty in its landscape. With open plains dotted with acacia trees and bordered by a river, the setting is idyllic and tranquil for every nature lover. From guided safaris to driving on your own, there are many opportunities to see Africa’s untamed wild up close.
Anyone seeking great adventure should not pass by Buffalo Springs National Reserve. Being rich in biodiversity, having attractive scenery, and proximity to Samburu, make it a perfect spot for travelers who are thirsty for communing with nature and, of course, Kenya’s wildlife magic.
